You never change things by fighting the existing reality.
To change something, build a new model that make the existing model obsolete.
I’m not fighting Rise and Grind. I do something else that works for me.
I set the alarm for 5.30, then hit snooze when I goes off. I think about what I need to do that day. I’m in the half awake, half asleep state. Lots of ideas. I create a space for Liminal Thinking.
The snoozed alarm will go off and I’ll take super short notes of any cool ideas, and repeat. Or turn the snooze alarm off if I’m super tired.
I get up at 7.40 ish, I have coffee and see the kids leave for school.
I then read the notes I made and Whoa!! Who had these great ideas!!!
By the time I start work I’d have forgotten the ideas I’ve had, and if I’m in danger of just grinding through something when I’ve had a better idea.
I specifically create a time and space for these ideas, and I make notes to remember them.
Grind if you want to, I doze for knows.
If you try this let me know, and don’t wake up anyone else with your alarm! Maybe use a quiet alarm….
